Dr. Jeanne Southern
is a family practitioner who has been focusing on
cosmetic procedures for over four years.

Dr. Southern enjoys injecting Botox and various
wrinkle fillers, with the emphasis on a natural

unique, and she tailors her treatments to meet the
client's individual preferences and goals for
her/his appearance. She ensures satisfaction
through establishing realistic expectations and
paying meticulous attention to detail. She
considers a cosmetic procedure to be an artistic
endeavor that makes use of cutting-edge technology.
She also is sensitive to financial realities and
always discusses how to use the most cost-effective
treatment plan.
Dr. Southern received her M.D. in 1985 from
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She
spent eight years on the faculty at Baylor, teaching
anatomy and
cell
biology to first-year
medical students. She left her position as
an
Assistant Professor in 1996, and became the
Chairman of the Anatomy Department at
Texas Chiropractic College. In 1998, she
began a full-time medical practice in Houston. She
has extensive experience in family practice,
workers' compensation injuries,
pain management, and for the past four years

What
is a Botox® treatment like?
Botox cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure
consisting of a few tiny injections. The entire procedure
takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime
afterwards. Discomfort is minimal and brief. It is unlikely,
but you may experience localized pain, infection, inflammation,
tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising
at the injection sites.
How
soon will I see a difference?
You can expect to see results within 2-7 days, but you may
continue to see improvement for up to 2 weeks. On average
the results last for 2-4 months. After that, many clients
are ready to return for a follow-up treatment.
Is
it expensive?
Actually, it is quite affordable. A recent survey showed
that those with annual household incomes of less than $100,000
(44%) were more likely to be treated with Botox®. Working
mothers between the ages of 40 to 55 are the most common
users of Botox cosmetic.
The
primary areas of treatment are the forehead, frown lines,
and crow’s feet. The range for a Botox treatment is
$350 - $650
Will
I still be able to make facial expressions?
The muscle activity is simply reduced, so you can still
frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.
Is
Botox safe?
Botox cosmetic has been widely tested and used for over
20 years. It is derived from a naturally occurring protein
known as botulinum toxin type A. The most common side effects
are temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Serious heart problems
and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely.
Persons with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS,
Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome may be at increased
risk of serious side effects and should consult with their
physician prior to contemplating Botox.
