What is a Botox® treatment like?
Botox cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime afterwards. Discomfort is minimal and brief. It is unlikely, but you may experience localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising at the injection sites.

How soon will I see a difference?
You can expect to see results within 2-7 days, but you may continue to see improvement for up to 2 weeks. On average the results last for 2-4 months. After that, many clients are ready to return for a follow-up treatment.

Is it expensive?
Actually, it is quite affordable. A recent survey showed that those with annual household incomes of less than $100,000 (44%) were more likely to be treated with Botox®. Working mothers between the ages of 40 to 55 are the most common users of Botox cosmetic.

The primary areas of treatment are the forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet. The range for a Botox treatment is $350 - $650

Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
The muscle activity is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.

Is Botox safe?
Botox cosmetic has been widely tested and used for over 20 years. It is derived from a naturally occurring protein known as botulinum toxin type A. The most common side effects are temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely. Persons with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects and should consult with their physician prior to contemplating Botox.

Botox Cosmetic Pre-Treatment Instructions
DO NOT:
1. Do not take anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or naproxen sodium, blood thinners such as aspirin, Coumadin, garlic oil or fish oil at least 72 hours prior to procedure.
2. Do not drink alcohol for at least 72 hours prior to procedure.

DO:
1. Do notify the practitioner if you are on a Calcium Channel Blocker for blood pressure (such as Cardizem, Procardia or Verapamil). They may decrease the force of the muscular contraction and can potentiate the effect of Botox. Dose may be adjusted.
2. Do notify the practitioner if you are taking aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as gentamycin, neomycin or streptomycin) as these classes of drugs interfere with neuromuscular transmission. This may potentiate the effect of Botox. Please do not schedule a treatment until after you have completed the medication.
3. Do notify the practitioner of all allergies.
4. Do notify the practitioner if you have a neuromuscular disease (such as ALS or Lambert Eaton Syndrome) as Botox may be contraindicated.
